THE NURSERY
The Nursery is a series of images made at Sunder Nursery, a city park in the heart of New Delhi.. Established in the early 20th century, the site was originally used to propagate trees and plants and to test which species could survive the city’s harsh climate.
Today, Delhi continues to face severe environmental challenges. A thick smog—caused by burning fuel, agricultural waste, and relentless traffic—often settles over the city. On the day I visited the park, the smog was especially heavy, hanging low and visible in the air. Yet in the midst of it, I encountered quiet scenes of love and connectedness—a tribute to the resilience of Delhi’s people. This work aims to reflect how tenderness can endure—and even flourish—in the face of environmental adversity.
